NEMANJA JOVANOVIĆ · ENGLISH ↔ SERBIAN / BOSNIAN
I’m Nemanja Jovanović.
Translator and sworn court interpreter for English who likes to understand the work behind the text and, when needed, organise it as effectively as possible.
One day, it is a two-page medical report. Another day, it is documentation for the construction of a plant or motorway, or a meeting where ten or more people need to reach a shared conclusion. The scale changes, but my starting question stays the same: what does this translation need to help its reader do?
Language, technical knowledge and responsibility
I graduated in English Language and Literature from the Faculty of Philosophy in Pale in 2007, following secondary technical education in power engineering. I have worked in translation since 2008. I was appointed a sworn court interpreter for English for the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina in 2010 and appointed for English by the Ministry of Justice of Republika Srpska in 2019.
Experience beyond the desk
I have worked alongside engineers, legal teams, medical professionals and international project teams. Alongside translation, I lead a team and work in investment project administration. This makes me attentive to what happens between documents: deadlines, versions, agreements, organising people and resources, and unresolved questions.
How I work and check quality
We first clarify the purpose, scope and deadline. I research terminology, use relevant reference materials and ask questions where the source is unclear. I use CAT tools, including SDL Trados and memoQ, to keep terminology consistent and manage larger sets of documents. Once the draft is complete, I revise it against the source and check completeness, terminology, names, numbers and formatting. When several people work on an assignment, I reconcile their versions and comments before delivery. Tools support these checks, but responsibility for the agreed result remains mine.
