Simultaneous & consecutive interpreting

A conversation should work even when participants do not share a language. The interpreting format follows the event, subject and audience.

Two interpreters wearing headsets at an interpreting console

I interpret at business meetings, specialist conferences, workshops and site visits, both in person and online. Preparation starts before the microphone is switched on: with the agenda, subject, names and materials participants will use.

Choosing the format

In simultaneous interpreting, the audience listens to the translation while the speaker continues. In consecutive interpreting, the speaker pauses for the interpreter to convey what was said. The right option depends on the event, available time and technical arrangements.

People, equipment and preparation

We agree the interpreting team, schedule and equipment according to the duration and demands of the event. I can help arrange technical support through collaborators; availability and cost are confirmed for each assignment.

When you also need a written record

Minutes and transcripts are separate services. We agree whether you need a summary of decisions, detailed minutes or a transcript, together with the working arrangements and deadline. Interpreting and making a complete record require appropriate staffing and planning.
